Pen Pals for Gifted Children

Many children in life have a pen pal or may be even two pen pals whom they write to in different countries.  A lot of the children who have pen pals are introduced to them via a teacher or a close friend, but there are other ways now of finding and writing to someone in a foreign country.

pen palsGifted children in particular want to get in touch with people of the same age and ability as themselves, there are websites on the internet which can bring gifted children together.  A child can use these websites in order that they meet people of the same age.  The child can input what age they wish there pen pal to be, the age range is anything from 7 years of age to 17 years of age, then you can input whether you wish to write to a boy or girl and the type of interests you have.  All the information that you provide is collated together and as soon as a match is found you are informed. 

It is essentially that with any online website or facility that either a parent to guardian is aware of what you are doing, in order that you are safeguarded.  Gifted children often find it difficult to talk with immediate family and friends about there emotions and everyday struggles, but with a pen pal you can write in an email or letter what you want to say and often it doesn’t feel as real as communicating face to face.  Pen pals for gifted children are a good way of getting support and the answers to any questions they may have but don’t wish to ask a family member.

A pen pal can turn into a great friend for a child, and these pen pals often stay in touch through into adulthood.  Some eventually visit there pen pals when they are adults, although they have never met they often know the pen pal inside out.
